I feel like the reboot did a pretty good job of developing a new storyline based off the old one without alienating people who haven't seen the original. And I reallly liked Heather in the reboot; every character was so intimidated by her, so it definitely gave a new life to the show!!

You won't get lost. The first season was nothing special. It was also the time when MP was struggling to find an audience. You can start anywhere from seasons 2-3. If you're gonna start from season 3, start from the beginning (this was the fan's choice of the best season). You can just immerse yourself into the show, and learn about the characters from any point.
The reboot ruined the characters.
Sydney: Brought back to life.
Jane: Manipulative in this version. In the orignal, she was a sweetheart, though she did have her moments.
Amanda: This was the biggest mistake. Amanda Woodward was a you-know-what, but she had a lot of depth to her and had a heart. She was just really driven by her job and was ruthless at times in getting what she wanted. She had dimensions that made her human. In this MP, she was just mean (stereotypical snobby boss), and that is not the true Amanda.
