We can all agree that Adele is massive at the moment and totally slayed 2011 into the pits of hell.
In today's dreadful market, her album sold over 15 million copies worldwide in less than a full year, outselling the nearest competition nearly 3 to 1, something which never happened before.
Her lead single also ended 2011 with record breaking numbers worldwide, accumulating 10 million points within a calendar year on the United World Chart for the first time in its existence.
Adele was named Billboard's Artist of the Year, while having the top selling album, top selling single, top played radio song of the year (on both Nielsen and Mediabase), top selling DVD of the year (outselling the nearest competition nearly 10 to 1).
Her domination is scary. And she is only half way through her era. Another massive single nearing the top of iTunes & radio charts without slightest promotion or even a video.
Her album is returning to #1 on Billboard 200 for 15the non-consecutive week this Thursday. 21 broke Thriller's record for the longest consecutive run in the Top 5 of BB 200.
She is the lead artist for the Grammy Awards and it will undoubtedly be another great year for her, possibly ending with at least the best selling album for the second year in a row in US & Worldwide.
Her domination is something that rarely happens. But when was the last time someone slayed so hard? I think it is safe to say that she is slaying harder than any of our faves ever had. I will speak for my fave and say that Britney never slayed as hard on a Global/US/UK scale as Adele is slaying right now.
Yes, our faves enjoyed a lot of success, but it can't be compared to what Adele is doing right now. She is doing it with ease, she knows no competition on any chart.
So, please tell me this:
Adele's domination is the hardest since ___________ ?
Please use evidence, don't just throw names around.
Just to be clear, the domination must be on a worldwide scale, it should include US, UK and at least a few other major markets. It should include albums sales, as well as singles. Pop culture impact is not the subject in question, because we are yet to witness the effects of Adele's impact once her era ends, so please avoid those discussions.
Please keep this related to music and not any other nonsense like twitter followers or facebook likes.
That's all
