Benjamin Button’s got nothing on Katy Perry.

Perry has just released the official video for “The One That Got Away,” her fond look back at lost love. My giant takeaway from this surprisingly downer clip? Katy Perry is seriously creepy looking as an old woman. She’s rocking the white hair, but her face, for all the effects, still looks young. I never thought I’d prefer her hair bubblegum pink. It’s disconcerting.

What do you all think? I appreciate that it’s different from the shtick she’s tried with her party anthems, but piggybacking so close to “We Found Love” by Rihanna isn’t doing this song any favors.

It’s also quite a bit more tragic than I was expecting, with Luna’s character going off a cliff in the end, and Elderly Perry going back and visiting the site of the accident. The lyrics in the tune don’t give you any hint that the “one who got away” wasn’t by choice.

Also surprising? The Stevie Nicks voiceover, toited in the trailer, was nowhere to be found. Such a tease.

What did you all think of the Titanic-esque video? Do you think Perry’s Dream will continue with single number six?

The first things I thought of when I saw this video was (1) teens will buy into its corny manufactured emotions, (2) it really wants to be the Titanic of mvs and (3) the only interesting part is trying to decide if the makeup or the acting is worse.

If you're doing a "powerful and meaningful" song, at least make it personal and don't have Dr Luke make it for you. Or stick to the pink hair and party hits. But again I'm sure kids will be moved out of their skin as they buy it on iTunes.

It's still a watchable video. It's not a mess or anything. Just corny and predictable. All 6 of her videos this era have at least been watchable.
