Many don't view Mariah as that intelligent either, some even view her as mentally unstable after her minor breakdown she had when she was displaying bizarre behavior, and is rumored to be an alcoholic. You and I both know you wouldn't agree with that view of Mariah so let's not do the same with Britney just because some people outside of ATRL view her differently.

You said her dancing and vocal ability didn't improve after her debut, after I said it did. And I wouldn't call it picking on you. If anything, I was educating you on something you should have learned many years ago. The public school system fails yet again. No child left behind my ass.

Well her vocals didn't improve and that's the truth. As for her dancing yes I did say that the first time I responded, but I thought you meant up till now, not after her debut. And when you educate someone you don't respond to them rudely.

tl;dr - britney will be remembered as a by-the-book pop goddess, while christina will be remembered as...well, just christina...with a mega-flop album.

How is taking 2-3 year breaks between albums self important? Are Usher, Alicia, etc. self important?

I think Britney has peaked. I've already said this but I feel as though she's the only popstar that we can safely say is passed her prime. She's incapable of reaching the same heights as she once did as a performer. In her prime, she was arguably the greatest performer of her generation. She mastered choreography and had stage presence like no other. With Britney it was never just about the music, it was about the total package. You could argue the same for others, but with Britney is was more apparent. Britney was idolised by many because of who she was, her media profile had a huge impact on her success. She would never have made it had she not been beautiful, and that's something that has gradually been eroded throughout her career. Britney was the star of her generation, but she lost that aura during her breakdown and has never been able to resurrect it. Sure she's still enjoying success on some scale, but it's minuscule compared to what it once was. She's not a factor outside of the US, and even there she's fleeting. The material she has released this year wasn't bad at all, and that's why her sales are so telling. They're awful, and there's no excuse for it because her songs are on trend and radio is eating them up. Exposure wasn't the problem, the material wasn't the problem... It's pretty clear what is.
Christina has that voice, and for that reason she can never be ruled out. Throughout her career she's received a lot of flack for copying others, but if it works... Then who cares? The problem with Christina was that she spread herself too thin and changed it up too frequently ultimately losing herself in the midst of it all. After four albums Christina doesn't really have a signature sound, or any lasting legacy. Her next album presents a wonderful opportunity for her because it gives her a chance to start over. The Voice and MLJ brought to an end a terrible period in her life. Her struggles aren't over, but if she's smart she'll use them to her advantage. Christina knows that Adele is the best-selling female artist of the moment, she should aim to replicate what she has done. After the dark period she has lived through she should have plenty of source material to produce an equally heartbreaking record. She has all the pieces, but will she be able to put them together? Only time will tell, but it's too early to say Christina is done when there's too much potential there.

I was enjoying until I read this. How can you say that? Britney is one of the popstars with the biggest worldwide power. She's loved and praised in every country in the world, just see the world tour. She's bringing Latin America down, people are going crazy for her shows here. As well on Europe, Asia and other places. HIAM was #1 in SEVERAL countries. Even though she gets some criticisms, you can't deny she is a massive global factor.

Many artists / bands enjoy highly grossing world tours long after they've peaked, they're not an accurate measure of relevancy. In most instances they're based upon the impact of their prime. Celine Dion can still sell out a tour without problem, but she hasn't been a factor for years... Britney's able to sell out tours because of what she accomplished in the past, not for what she's doing today.

So basically what you mean to say is Britney is nothing but a washed up has been with no chances to climb back up again whatsoever and her career is over for good. Christina on the other hand because of her voice, can become a top pop-star again along the leagues of GaGa and Rihanna. Interesting...

Your words.
I think Christina has a greater capacity to reinvent herself, there's more room for improvement.
