British singing sensation Adele may have rescheduled most of her American summer tour because of laryngitis, but the artist did manage to pick up some U.S. influences during the short time she spent singing across the pond. And now she says she plans to use them on her third album.
"I was exposed to a lot of country, rockabilly and bluegrass," the songstress said of her time in America in an interview with The Sun. "The melodies and to-the-point lyrics I have found in a lot of American styles of music is definitely something I'm going to be pursuing heavily from now on." Adding that hearing American country musicians for the first time is "like a four-year-old in a candy shop who's discovering sweets again."
And, she's not just planning to channel the style. Adele says she wants to actually go to the places where country and bluegrass originate. "I want to spend some time in Austin in Texas and Nashville, Tennessee, and learn about it," she said.
Her smash-hit sophomore album, 21, has sold over 2.8 million copies, and spent an impressive 11-week reign atop the Billboard charts, making it the top-selling album in the world so far this year.
Adele doesn't know what she wants to do with her next album.
At first she said that she wants to do an up tempo women empowerment song, then she said she wants to do an acoustic album, now she's saying she wants to do country. Every since she crossed over to a million formats, she wants to do everything.
Seems like she wants to experiment with her sound. I like artists that don't put themselves in a box... Not the biggest fan of country, but we'll see how this turns out.
OMG! i didn't know you knew her in private life!
Tell us what is she like.
Um, I don't have to know her personally. There have been many articles where she says what she's planning on doing with next album and she has stated several different things. Obviously, she isn't set on a concept yet.
