Do you all think it's hypocritical for Top 40 US radio to go against playing songs like Judas with religious topics, while they constantly play songs about partying & sex, something most religions condemn? I love how radio & the people who listen to it claim to be pure & devout when any topic of religion comes up in their pop music, when they clearly aren't.

No. Partying and sex in music are mainstream. Religious blasphemy isn't. Get over it.

Only half of the "Judas" backlash was religious-related; the other half is mostly because it was so similar to BR, PF, and Paparazzi.

Radio didn't play Judas because most of public hated it. ATRL is just too delusional to see.

Judas is lyrically harmless. Its failure on radio just shows how simple-minded the GP is.

I'm not getting defensive. I'm no radio DJ. It's not a loophole. One is mainstream the other is offensive and problematic. It makes sense.

"Judas" wasn't played because of the controversy surrounding Judas. It was just a terrible choice to release as a single. It also wasn't very radio friendly.

But I agree with the majority here - it's more to do with the sonic aspects of the track, not the lyrics content.

It isn't possible to definitively claim whether the "general public" loves a song or not. In the end, all we're armed with is our own anecdotal evidence - weak at best. Sales and radio don't necessarily accurately gauge public opinion, and Gallup certainly ain't wasting their time on surveying people's opinions of pop songs
