Discussion: Is Top 40 Radio Hypocritical?

It's just not the best song & it's not up to par with her other songs. It's not blasphemous at all, but people are quick to judge and think she's saying she's in love with the Devil or something. A lot of DJ's are probably scared to play it because they don't want people to think their station is satanic or some ****.

Yes, but obviously those aren't religious topics.
Judas, Jesus, holy fools, the most biblical sense, the demon you cling to, that big golden cross you wear in your video (while you handle a big fat gun to boot), etc, are religious, obviously.
Blow, however, is not.
You're talking about shunning anything the religious would find offensive rather then shunning direct religious offensiveness.

!!!
A lot of people just think the public thought the song sounded poor but I also think people were quick to judge the song for its content without fully looking into it.

You have a good argument. Religion is just too sensitive a subject for people. I think people should be more open-minded.

Meanwhile TTWE is played which sounds like a We R Who We R/Tik Tok mashup?
everyone can sit now.

Top 40 radio is just a mess, it seems.

I'm pretty sure it was the screeching and possessed-sounding chorus that turned radio off.
edit: well and the religious themes didn't help, that's for sure..

If I remember correctly, there was one major complaint about the song by a religious group, and it didn't gain much traction. Honestly, most people just didn't like the song; it's very cacophonous and redundant of Gaga's previous work.

IRunL.A. raised a good point. Party songs that sound like each other do well regardless, & these songs usually echo the artist's previous work of other artist's previous work. Repetiveness is very common on Top 40 radio.
Most people didn't like the song: some for it apparently being a so-called BF/PR clone, some for just being annoying, but I do think the religious references caused even more backlash.

Think about when and why people are listening to the radio these days: it's mostly just when they are driving to school, work, a party, etc. At these times, people probably don't want challenging or thought-provoking music; they are looking for a mental diversion, and the lively, enjoyable, fun (and mostly mindless) music of top 40 radio suits that need. When they want something else, they listen to it at home on their iPod.

Then you need to come in here with proof, not just speculation. It's not unreasonable, but I haven't really seen any news to that effect. I have, however, seen (and heard) a lot of people complaining that they did not like the song.

Many people around me personally were bothered by the religious themes in the song.

That wasn't the reason.
