For Tiné and Gould, time is running out because Tiné faces a deportation hearing in December.

Tiné, a 33-year-old contractor, said he came to the United States in 2002 fleeing discrimination and violence against gays in Venezuela. In Florida, he married a woman to obtain a green card and was placed in deportation proceedings after government officials determined the marriage was fraudulent.

“I was so afraid to go back to my country,’’ Tiné said.



A "normal" man & woman American marriage would save Tine from deportation, but because he loves who he loves he has to go back to his dangerous, homophobic homeland.

This is nothing to do with gay rights or anything like that, he is in the country illegally and so SHOULD be deported, if he had taken the legal route to being a citizen that would be a different matter. They can't give him special rights because he is gay, LBGT want EQUAL rights, am I right in saying that would not be equal treatment?

My partner lives in the the USA, I don't and I will be ensuring that I go there completely legally if I plan to stay and get married, you have to take the right route, laws can be annoying but they are there for a reason. If you really love someone you can go that extra mile to be a legitimate citizen and NOT commit fraud. People are deported on a daily basis for not following the rules. This isn't really news.

Lie. I'm venezuelan and gay, and here the people isn't homophobic. And in Venezuela doesn't exist violence against the gays. This is such a lie.

That's the way the law works,it is illegal. They can't go easy on him just because he's gay and because of his homophobic country.

I think his point here was that it would be legal if he was allowed to marry another man - which he isn't.

+1. That's what I thought when I read what he said, clearly he exaggerates the situation to benefit him. But you can't blame a person, they'd do anything to get out of tough situations.
