To sum it up for anyone who doesn't want to read the article, Tyler Clementi, a freshman at Rutgers, committed suicide by jumping off the George Washington bridge after his roommate videotaped him having sexual relations with a male classmate and then proceeding to post the video online. He wasn't out as gay yet.

The roommate and I believe another person are facing criminal charges and therefore jail time for their involvement.

This is horrible. It's so sad, how cruel society is towards us, gay men. They treat us like jokes.

I hope he's in heaven with the angels.

I believe its the fourth one just this month.

I dont think the room mate is entirely to blame, I dont think he realised the effect it would have on him.

Obviously, I'm not justifying it, it's horrible and unforgivable what he did, but I think living with the knowledge that he caused his room mate to kill himself is punishment enough. He has to live with that for the rest of his life.

Well, it is entirely his fault. He's the reason the guy went off the edge.

But he didn't physically kill the guy. So, I think the mental effect will be his punishment. I can't see how he would sleep comfortably at night knowing that he caused a person's death.

By 'Blame' I mean

He shouldnt be criminally charged. And its not like he knew this guy was going to kill himself.

Just to clarify, I'm pretty sure I read the criminal charges in the article and/or heard it in the video within the link. I could be wrong, I'm too lazy to go double check.

This is just sad. Whenever I read things like this it hurts my heart. I almost shed a tear. My heart goes out to his family and friends. I cant stand those type of people. How could they leak it on the internet?

Since the kid killed himself, I don't think he should be charged. However, there should be some ramifications. I don't know. It's a sad situation. I would never think of killing myself. I probably would have reacted a different way. But everyone's different. The guy who died had some inner issues if he decided to kill himself. That's why it's not cool to tease people and threaten them with stuff like that because you never know what they may do to you or themselves.

Rutgers is right near me and it's where I plan on going to school in 2 years. Although it wasn't their intention, it was a horrible thing to do and lead to this. I hope Rutgers doesn't get a bad rep for this.

My heart goes out to his (real) friends and family. Though I can't help think how horrible the guy who posted the video must feel. The whole situation is just very horrible

I don't see anything wrong with what he said. A lot of people feel that way. Killing yourself is never the right choice, especially when you leave loved ones behind. That's why this situation is sad and the fact that the other guy has something to do with this makes it even sadder.
