After poking fun at her reckless ways at the VMAs, she confirmed via Twitter Friday night what TMZ had reported earlier: She failed her most recent random drug test, which means, according to the terms of her probation, she could see another 30 days of jail time. "This was certainly a setback for me but I am taking responsibility for my actions and I'm prepared to face the consequences," tweeted the actress, 24, who admitted she's a "work in progress." "Substance abuse is a disease, which unfortunately doesn't go away over night. I am working hard to overcome it and am taking positive steps."

And D.A. spokesperson Sandi Gibbons tells TMZ her office has not been "officially notified" of the test results and no court date has been set yet.

UPDATE: Sources close to Lindsay tell us she is saying it's not true -- insisting she has not failed, but we have confirmed it is indeed true.

I was rooting for Lindsay to come back and this really screwed everything up. And I thought she said she learned her lesson? So that's why I'm hoping this one is the real article, not others but we all know it's the other ones.

She finally confirmed on her Twitter that she did fail her drug test.

Regrettably, I did in fact fail my most recent drug test and if I am asked, I am prepared to appear before judge Fox next week as a result.

It makes you wonder why they decided to release her early. Everyone thought the original judge was being too harsh on her, but in all honesty perhaps it was needed. She needs at least 3 months in rehab, but I guess it's possible that she'll never beat her addiction. Many people don't.

She's in denial, she probably thinks she is on the road to recovery. I don't think people should judge her too harshly, of course she must take responsibility for the situation she's in, but the reason she is like this is because of her parents. If she had some stability in her life then she would stand a better chance of recovery.
