Poll: Why is Janet's legacy underrated?

She was a huge cultural force in 1986-1994 and still managed to maintain success in 1997-2002. That's 15 years of legacy, not every pop girl has that. It's like her influence has been swept under the rug, just like Donna Summer in the 70's. Why is her impact underrated by the media/GP?

I think it's fairly rated tbh. She can't touch the likes of Madonna, Mariah, Whitney, Donna, Diana etc...

I mean, Bruno most recently gave an interview saying who inspires him and she was nowhere to be found on his list, even though he listed alot of black pop musicians:

You don't even know what Diana and Donna's contributions to the art are. Don't embarrass yourself trying to belittle Janet.

Whitney and Mariah's legacies are built on a different avenue; apples and oranges.

Madonna is only applicable to White artists.

Janet's niche is a little bit of everything. There's really only a handful of today's popular acts who don't manifest Janet's contributions in their work. Majority of them do.
