An Italian Prince was crushed to death outside a luxury department store in central London when a HGV lorry hit his bike and dragged him beneath its wheels.

Filippo Corsini, 21, the heir to a Florentine noble family, was killed yesterday outside Knightsbridge Underground Station.

The International Business student at Regent's University London was hit by the truck outside luxury department store Harvey Nichols at about 12.40pm.

Filippo was known to cycle every day to university "whatever the weather" and was involved in the sport of equestrian.

The Corsini family is one of Florence's oldest family dating back to the Middle Ages and includes Pope Clement XII.

There is no monarchy in Italy, there never was actually. There is no prince, king, or queen whatsoever.

He might be a Duke or something and technically not even that since there is no linage.
