Male birth control study cut short due to side effects

Male birth control shot found effective, but side effects cut study short
A new hormonal birth control shot for men effectively prevented pregnancy in female partners, a new study found.
The injection, given every eight weeks, consisted of 1,000 milligrams of a synthetic form of testosterone and 200 milligrams of norethisterone enanthate, essentially a derivative of the female hormones progesterone and estrogen referred to as "progestin" in the synthetic form.
However, due to side effects, particularly depression and other mood disorders, the researchers decided in March 2011 to stop the study earlier than planned, with the final participants completing in 2012.
"I immediately thought of the recent findings on female birth control," Elisabeth Lloyd said of a study published last month in the journal JAMA Psychiatry. A faculty scholar at the Kinsey Institute, she is a professor of biology and an adjunct professor of philosophy at Indiana University Bloomington.
"Twenty percent or 30% of the women who take oral birth control pills experience depression and have to take medication for it. So the difference just struck me," said Lloyd, who is unaffiliated with the new study. "They terminated this study once it showed 3% depression for the men."
Not them abandoning a groundbreaking study because a few of them got a pimple and felt depressed . Women get the same with their birth control pills yet they go on .
I know - I suffer it.. But aren't those are the exact same side effects as the pill that women have been taking for years . I don't see why they had to stop the study altogether. re-adjust the drug and try again.
Legit the same side effects as female contraceptives. Plenty of women have tried BC and found it the hard way their body can't deal with the hormonal changes, I expect the same level of responsibility from men

Except men have a higher tendency to snatch their own lives away. Adding a little more depression won't help.
Men are p*ssies. Women go through this on the daily, man up. You complain about condoms yet don't want to do your part in preventing pregnancy and still want to bang. F*ck outta here
Nnnnn why are they surprised though, messing with any hormone can usually lead to depression and other like side effects. I feel like they should have seen this coming

I was so irritated when I heard this. Tampons and pads are already taxed as "luxury items" and it is not easy getting birth control, and which already has severe known and known long term symptoms and side-effects, but these men can't handle something so minor?
Op obviously doesnt know much about pharmacy. Numerous clinical trials ended because of depression. All drugs have to be safe, effective and high quality....if such a huge side effect shows so early the research cant continue with masses...

actually birth control clear up most women's pimples. and i wish there was a non-hormonal BC pill for america. :PRESSED ROLL EYES:
