Black teenager charged with child **** for sexting white gf

Sexting may be common among teenagers but for one 17-year-old black boy from Louisiana it could be an act that will haunt him for the rest of his life. His family says race clearly played a role in why Levar Allen, a three-sport high school athlete, was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile and possession of child ****ography after sexting with his 16-year-old white girlfriend.
Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Bill Davis was quick to push back against any suggestion that race played a role in the charges. "I have nothing to say about that. It doesn't matter what your race, what your religion, what your ethnicity, don't do child ****ography! Plain and simple," he said.
Yes, it's so funny that an innocent young boy is going to have his life ruined because his girlfriend's racist parents are prosecuting him for doing something that all teenagers do that should not be illegal
I find these type of cases a shame, the law will brand young adults who are sexting each other as pedos for the rest of their life which does them harm in the long run.
It gets to where an argument and disdain for one party can get them a charge that never goes away when two parties who believe they are giving proper consent are involved.
Punishing them is one thing but sex offender branding is an issue when most people see that it is assumed it's abuse of a child.
And the fact his girlfriend isn't charged as well...
Except, not only was the girl charged as well, she was charged first.
On Thursday, Bossier Parish Sheriff Julian Whittington held a press conference to clear the air. After the conference, he gave a telephone interview with The Washington Post.
Being a minor, the girl was charged under the state’s sexting laws, but since Allen was 17, he was charged as an adult. Furthermore, in “evidence recovered from the young man’s phone, which has literally hundreds of [sexually explicit] photographs and videos, we were able to find another video of a 16-year-old girl,” Whittington said, adding that Allen has been charged with two more counts of possession of child ****ography, and the other girl in question has been charged for sexting.
That KSLA story became the source that informed nearly all the national coverage of the story, including King’s column, Slate’s story, BET’s story and The Root’s story.
The domino effect.

The reason for the different charges comes down to Louisiana’s sexting law, which states “No person under the age of seventeen years shall knowingly and voluntarily use a computer or telecommunication device to transmit an indecent visual depiction of himself to another person.”
Given that Allen, who is 17, had the video on his phone and the girl was 16, he was instead charged under the state’s child ****ography laws.
So the cut off is 16, being that he is on the consent line and she is under it he got a child **** slap.
I swear the US having all these sporadic ass laws makes these situations so much more confusing and complicated.
