Ngl every time someone (who seems pleasant/nice or whatever) tells me they are a republican or are voting for Trump, it makes me automatically dislike them subconsciously. This happens constantly for since I live in the south where people are ignorant but sweet at the same time Are you the same way? Do you like or dislike republicans? Or does it depend on the person?

I can like them. But it depends on what type of Republican they are. Like... I don't look at it as "liberal or conservative." I look at it like a spectrum and I tend not to like anyone on either far end.

I myself am right wing when it comes to economic issues for example it's sad that if you feel the same way there's no other serious option besides the Republicans (who push an agenda of racism, homophobia and total ignorance). Yet when it comes to social issues for example I'm very left/ liberal so there's a problem... It's ****ed up Americans have such limited choice lol.

The way I see it, the present Republican party has a platform that is racist, homophobic, Islamophobic, classist, nationalistic, and misogynistic. Because of that, everyone who supports that party is supporting the perpetuation of those beliefs (regardless of whether or not they personally agree with them). There's this idea that "silence is violence," which means that by not opposing discrimination you are giving your implicit acceptance / approval of said discrimination, and that's why I have a big problem with Trump's supporters. I also believe that Trump is such a singularly abhorrent person that I sometimes can't help but question the sanity and morality of his supporters.

Aside from that, I believe that the only politicians in this country worth a DAMN are the ones who stand up against the NRA. (I don't think it's exclusively GOP politicians who are in bed with the gun lobby, but it's probably more conservatives than liberals).
