US-led forces bomb Syrian army, 162 dead as ISIS took adv.
Quote:
The US-led coalition has admitted its planes carried out an attack in eastern Syria that the Russian army says killed at least 62 Syrian troops fighting IS.
The US said its planes had halted the attack in Deir al-Zour when informed of the Syrian presence.
A spokesman for the US administration expressed "regret" for the "unintentional loss of life".
An emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council, convened by Russia, is discussing the crisis.
The Russians earlier said the current ceasefire in Syria was in danger of collapse and the US would be to blame.
The cessation of hostilities does not include attacks by the US on IS or other jihadist groups.

Syria conflict: How will the new truce work?

What's left after five years of war?
The US Central Command statement said the coalition believed it was attacking positions of so-called Islamic State and the raids were "halted immediately when coalition officials were informed by Russian officials that it was possible the personnel and vehicles targeted were part of the Syrian military".
It said the "Combined Air Operations Center had earlier informed Russian counterparts of the upcoming strike".
It added: "Syria is a complex situation with various military forces and militias in close proximity, but coalition forces would not intentionally strike a known Syrian military unit. The coalition will review this strike and the circumstances surrounding it to see if any lessons can be learned."
Russia's defence ministry earlier said that if the US air strikes did turn out to be an error, it would be because of Washington's refusal to co-ordinate military action with Moscow.
TBQH we need to let those people hash it out themselves. We shouldnt commit our troops to that civil war.
But US is the reason for the cause of the destabilization in Iraq that led to the whole ISIS threat in the Middle East and basically the refugee crisis in the world?
This is against international law. 162 lives is no accident.
The terrorists running the US troops & your so called "free world" leaders must be stopped. And yes. They are terrorists in every sense of the word, using scapegoats to deflect from their actions & keeping their citizens fearful & misguided. Deal with your own **** first.
Dajr az-Zaur is an ISIS stronghold, they are using the local people as human shields there.
The syrian army has fought in the area from the start of the conflict and managed to keep the airport from ISIS, who besieged the territory. Its impossible that US didnt know the syrian army was active in the area.
Especially with their intelligence agencies, US must have known that there were heavy fights, and that the syrian army was trying to push ISIS away from the local airport (from mount Thardeh). If Asads army managed to do that, it would have been possible to fight IS and make airstrikes against them. The mount Thardeh is strategic, because it overlooks the airport and it is possible to shoot down airplanes taking off from the airport from there.
But now US came, and out of several militant bases there, almost all occupied by ISIS, they chose to bomb the only one which belonged to the syrian army and destroyed their heavy equipment. IS immediatelly took advantage of it and attacked the syrian army... Just a coincidence?
Feeling sick right now.
Edit: corrected all the flaws in this initial messy report from news.
Dajr az-Zaun is an ISIS stronghold, they are using the local people as human shields there.
The syrian army has fought in the area for awhile, already managed to take the port from ISIS and it made news. Its impossible that US didnt know they were active in the area, especially with their intelligence agencies.
US must have knew that there were heavy fights, and that the syrian army (or someone) was trying to push ISIS from the local airport. If Asads army managed to do that, they would have certainly turned the airport into a military airbase, from which it would have been easier to fight IS and make airstrikes against them. It would have been a very important achievement.
But now US came, and out of several militant bases there, almost all occupied by ISIS, they chose to bomb the only one which belonged to the syrian army and destroyed their heavy equipment. IS immediatelly took advantage of it and attacked the syrian army... Just a coincidence?
