The only problem I have with this is her 'acting'.

As long as she dies her hair Red, it's fine, but I need the iconic ginger Mary jane. Zendaya is a terrible actress tho, but i'm rooting for this movie, like always, since I really love spider-man, but the reboot is coming out too soon, I hope it slays

By all means cast a POC actress (would love to see a Latina Maria Juana) but cast someone who deserves it

Eh, I guess I can wait until Homecoming comes out to judge her acting.

But I've seen her other pieces of work and I'm not impressed. She's more of a socialite than talented in my opinion.

What strikes me as odd is that this is still set in high school; MJ and Peter never actually met until college. I suppose Marvel doesn't want to run the whole Gwen story again.

I'm sure the professional casting directors with a lot of pressure to "get it right" know who and who doesn't have chemistry while they put together the cast. And they do have good chemistry. There's pictures of them from Comic Con that are really cute.

If that's true, then literally every couple cast in big movies would get it right with chemistry, but we know that's not true

I was at Hall H for the Marvel panel, where they showed exclusive footage for all their upcoming films including Spider-Man: Homecoming! The footage for Spidey was mostly the high school stuff, and it was fantastic. I think this new movie is playing with these iconic Spidey high school characters in fun and interesting ways.

In the context of the footage shown and what we saw of Spidey's world in "Civil War", they are really pushing for a modern high school movie for this generation of kids much like John Hughes' films did for the Eighties and what Mean Girls did for the mid-00's.

Btw, Zendaya's acting (I didn't realize she was MJ) was fantastic, and that was just from the little clips shown. You can tell she likes Peter, while he's interested in the "popular" hot girl.
