(Not If)Turkey isn't Secular anymore. Its becoming a theocratic state.
On the Coup, its just wrong, Coups never bring anything positive. It will usher in an era of dictator after dictator,voting rights will be wiped off and it becomes a mess.
So in simple terms Turkey is in a point in time, where it will have to go the theocratic brutal way and in the far future after the majority has had enough, they'll turn back to a true secular nation.

Those fighting for all sorts of equality, should use peaceful protests etc and channel change and education to the masses.

EDIT: AT the rate the majority wants to mix religion and government, Turkey will soon be fully referred to as the middle east.

Anyways, this seems really fishy to me. Turkey has one of the strongest armys in world, probably inside the ten most powerful. How is it possible that they strike when Erdogan is on vacation and when you should arrest him first when you are doing a military coup.

Turkish forces had all what they neeed to succeed if they wanted to. And over 100 of them died in this? This is truly just the pits.

Is this still going on? What does this mean for the rest of the world? I've heard talks on CNN of the USA following suit.

Because he/she examplifies the root of what can be so so wrong with religion. He/she was made believe that one should feel sad for people who do not share ones religious beliefs. In other words, the involvement in religion is already so very strong that anything related to it is going to be taken personally. An attitude like this can only result in chaos in the longrun because the spread of his/her religion is seen as something good and beneficial, converting people is seen as something beautiful. So if you can achieve that, you basically DID good. Now take this thought one step further and there you go.

I am religious too, I believe in a God, but I would never feel sad for other people believing in something else. That's just completely ****ed up imho. Religion should be something personal. The moment you take it and judge others upon it, you do entirely wrong. Live your own life, and let others live theirs in peace.

Because it affects our lives greatly. And we don't like that. We're still a minority. We still get abused or harassed because we think differently from the rest. Not to mention that a lot of us (like myself) live under religion-influenced laws.

It's not that we want everyone else to be or think like us, we just don't want to follow senseless orders from the ancient people of the past.

These are some photos after the soldiers surrendered, supporters of the ruling group were on streets. They are seriously disturbing so you might want to think twice before opening the links.

In the first one, they are trying to throw a soldier over Bosphorus. Bear in mind the soldier has surrendered and claims he doesn't know anything at all.



This second one is even more tragic, people apparently beheaded a soldier after shouting "allahu akbar" a few times. To think that they'll walk free without a punishment is even more saddening.


And in this one, I don't know what they are doing but it seems very familiar from ISIL photos that have been around forever.


These are the kinds of people (at least the majority of it) that is supporting them. We are at a very low point in our country and seems like there is no turning back
