Why would Erdogan risk losing so much on the international scene knowing that there would be heavy consequences on his military power especially with ISIS and Syria on his borders? Like while I get the plot would be good for him to strengthen his position in Turkey but wouldn't it weaken his military power, keeping in mind that the military who are against him would still be fighting against ISIS and other enemies of Turkey for example?
I hope my question is clear cause I feel like I haven't worded it too right.

It's no secret that Erdogan funds ISIS and other terror groups operating in Syria. He's complicit in the genocide of Kurds, Yezidis, and Assyrians, but nobody cares because Turkey's a member of NATO.

Turkey is not fighting ISIS. The "only" fight Turkey is in is against the Kurds. The Kurds are the next Armenian which is historically ironic since the Kurds participated in the Armenian Genocide. And it's actually going as we speak in true Turkish fashion, very locally, very progressively. In a nutshell they're destroying Kurdish majority cities, and rebuilding right after, erasing any trace of the massacre. Erdogan is calling it urbanizations plans. And nobody will be able to do anything since everybody is so focused on Syria, Libya and Irak, just like nobody really could do a thing for the Armenians, since the First World War is going on. History is truly repeating itself, over and over and over and over, and we never truly learn.
And to answer your question, Turkey has more than enough men to slaughter the Kurds twice or thrice, they have the second biggest army amongst NATO nations, only behind the US.

WikiLeaks releases part one of the AKP Emails. AKP, or the Justice & Development Party, is the ruling party of Turkey and is the political force behind the country's president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Part one of the series covers 762 mail boxes beginning with 'A' through to 'I' containing 294,548 email bodies together with many thousands of attached files. The emails come from "akparti.org.tr", the AKP's primary domain. The most recent was sent on July 6, 2016. The oldest dates back to 2010. It should be noted that emails associated with the domain are mostly used for dealing with the world, as opposed to the most sensitive internal matters.
The material was obtained a week before the attempted coup. However, WikiLeaks has moved forward its publication schedule in response to the government's post-coup purges. We have verified the material and the source, who is not connected, in any way, to the elements behind the attempted coup, or to a rival political party or state.

If you love Islam so much, go back to an Islamic country and try to be an outspoken gay, instead of preaching about Islam from a safe western country. But no, you won't, as they'll behead you, lynch you or put you in a prison! Gays like you are the most annoying but I read a few pages back that you're only a child, so I guess you'll need a few years to grow up and realize a few things. Unless the indoctrination is too strong in you.

For the record, the US wouldn't of been able to gather enough troops to kill innocent Iraqi/Afghan if it wasn't for Christian America being so fearful of Islam. It is Christians who support our troops more than anybody and then do nothing for them when almost half of those troops come home with PTA, living on the streets or in a prison.. They are killing themselves at a faster rate than the Islamic terrorists are at killing Americans... Think about it. Most of those troops over the past two decades think they're noble Christians fighting for their country when they slaughter Muslims in the millions. God Bless America is the rhetoric.. Without religion on both sides this falsely engineered war on terror wouldn't even be possible.
Just be glad these homophobic, Islamic nations don't have anywhere near the same amount of military power of the west otherwise the Islamic state would of done something catastrophic to us by now, but at the end of the day they are not the ones you should be afraid of. There was a Military Coup for good reason. The Turkish government has been funding the same terrorist group that arose out of the Iraq war which was the US's fault first and foremost... So stop blaming Islam for the the terrorism we all collectively created on both ends. Singling out one Abrahamic religion makes things worst if you haven't noticed. They all need to be addressed and terminated.

I can't catch up with what's going on in my country. Turkey is like Kanye's ego had a baby with Azealia Banks' mind.

Wise of them, It's just downhill from here by the way things are going so far & I don't see change happening for the better happening - It's too late.
Erdogan's ego and agenda for dictatorship far outweighs his ability to rationalize and. When the EU are hesitant to accept you and NATO are warning you at the SAME time, you know you're treading on very thin ice.
I hope the fellow secular Turk's on here who are free thinking souls and detest anything that hitler wannabe does/says stay safe, Y'all don't deserve this.

I was just thinking about how this coup could be like Erdogan's own Reichstag 1933 fire.

It's so scary, the officials have given Erdogan emergency power right now - It's temporary at the moment, but so incredibly dangerous.
Of course he's lying, This mother****er was allegedly the backer for the coup.... It only strengthened his stature by instilling fear to his dumb ass followers.

have been often arbitrary detained, deprived of contacts with family and lawyers as well as go through “severe” tortures.
Amnesty also obtained “extremely alarming accounts of torture and other ill-treatment of detainees” from their lawyers, doctors and a person on duty in a detention facility.
According to these reports, police held detainees in stress positions for up to 48 hours, denied them food, water and medical treatment, verbally abused and threatened them and subjected them to beatings and torture, including rape and sexual assault.
Based on the information given by a person on duty at Ankara Police Headquarters’ sports hall to Amnesty, a detainee suffered severe wounds after apparently being beaten by police. He could not stand up or focus his eyes and he eventually lost consciousness. Police refused to allow this detainee to receive basic medical treatment and a police doctor reportedly said: “Let him die. We will say he came to us dead.”
650-800 male soldiers were being held in the Ankara police headquarters sports hall. At least 300 of them had signs proving that they were beaten, with some of them even having broken bones. About 40 were unable to walk because of serious injuries sustained in custody.
Two lawyers in Ankara told the NGO they saw senior military officers in detention being raped with a truncheon or finger by police officers.
The interviewees also told the human rights organization that based on what detainees told them police deprived them of food for up to three days and water for up to two days. Some detainees are also reportedly in extreme emotional distress and even attempt suicide.
Amnesty also stressed that depriving detainees of access to lawyers and family and holding them in unofficial detention facilities as well as arbitrary detentions amount to “enforced disappearance which in itself is a crime under international law.”
This practice places detainees outside the protection of the law and cuts them off from the outside world, putting them at very high risk of torture or even extrajudicial execution, the NGO stressed.
In the meantime, 934 schools, 109 dormitories, 15 universities, 104 foundations, 35 health institutions, 1,125 associations and 19 unions were closed.
