Being old doesn't make you a legend. Maybe they're legends to you but not to me but they had litterally no impact on me. The people who are legends to me are more recent, and 50 years from now people will pretty much agree, which is weird, because being old doesn't make you a legend and I'll never understand that.
It's my opinion. Don't critize me for it. Older artists aren't legends to me because they haven't impacted me and their music is extremely boring and unlistenable to me. If you grew up with if, I get that. But I didn't, I grew up with other artists that I like better. There's a few older things I like, but a lot of it sounds dated boring and unlistenable and I like 2008-2012 things better.

The issue is you included Beyonce but then have the nerve to list her contemporaries as icons. If they are icons she is one too. So pick one.
Where are the other genres like country, rock blues etc. Missing people like Reba, Tina, Dolly, but then creating this list is embarrassing. Especially the fact you have Beyonce on there who hasn't had any impact compared to those legends. Hell Britney doesn't either.
Go rethink for a second.

I know he's not the only one but I can assure you he's for a lot of person the only rapper they like or even know. No others rappers before and even after him sold that much OUTSIDE of the US.

Maybe because none of them have ever touched rock music with a barge poll?

I'd take Janet from the OP. She's overrated and she's nothing like her brother. Just a female spin-off of MJ.

Here is the thing, an opinion like this means that all current artist will not be legends to the next generation and so on and so forth. What is sad is the majority of the music you like from 2008-2012 originated and pays homage to that 90s and 80s music that you so much hate. The only difference in what has changed is what is considered mainstream. Otherwise all music has stayed relatively the same whether you realize it or not. (Same beats, same flow, etc.) Hell we all saw this with the born this way/express yourself controversy.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame isn't strictly for rock bands. Plenty of hip hop artists have made it in.

so many rap, r&b, pop and even disco artists are there. "rock and roll" it's just a name, every genre is acceptable. you just need to have talent/influence/respect enough to be nominated, let alone inducted.

Anyways, Britney isn't a legend but I think Eminem and Madonna at least deserve a mention

And Bey has been flopping singles wise since 2009
She can't score a radio hit to save her life, and her single sales are abysmal.
She's been around longer than Britney apparently but can't sell as many solo records.

Omg. Rock & Roll hall of fame is for...wait...Rock & Roll, a one genre only list. Of course they aren't going to include Mariah Carey or Whitney Houston, they're not Rock & Roll, and they only do the list for people who like Rock & Roll.
I hate Rock & Roll, to me it's just a bunch of weird crazy noise and people screaming, but if you like it then good for you I guess...

You including Beyoncé AND SNOOP DOGG but not Madonna literally invalidates this entire list. However, since you were pretty close, let me fix that for you.
Madonna
Mariah Carey
Stevie Wonder
Paul McCartney
Barbra Streisand
George Michael
Snoop Dogg
Diana Ross
Dolly Parton
Janet Jackson
Bruce Springsteen
Kanye West
Tina Turner
R. Kelly
Elton John
Céline Dion
Cher
Billy Joel
Phil Collins
Smokey Robinson
Bob Dylan
Britney Spears
Christina Aguilera
Beyoncé
Aretha Franklin
Tony Bennett
P!nk never seems to really hit the mark, but honestly, she has the statistics and career to claim a spot for herself. I don't know what to say about her.

If Mariah/Cher/Celine are included you better list the most important and succesful female musician of all time. Let us not act extra and play like Madonna isn't a legend.
