Messi: 'I'm taking this decision for me and for the many people who want this. I've tried so hard, but I'm leaving without managing it.'

This comes three days after Messi wrote about his frustration with the Argentine FA. "Once again waiting on a plane to leave for our destination," Messi wrote on his Instagram. "What a disaster the AFA are. My god!" When asked about the post the next day, Messi said he'd speak to AFA about his concerns after Copa America ended.
the penalty miss/loss was shocking yes, but i feel like if he truly is the greatest player now and one of the best of all time this would encourage him to try again.
and i mean he's 29 so wait 2 years, do the world cup, and if you lose then retire. this is just dramatics imo.

He'll be 31 by the time of the next world cup.
I feel he's thinking of his team as well. They need to improve especially in creativity and as a team.
He can't always be healthy and the pressure the argentine media gives to him in comparing him with Maradona has always been unfair to him.
He looked very sad, but i didn't think he would quit the team.
Well, he always had a lot of pressure so now it might have been too much for him.
I still support you papi.
Good. Argentina needs to see far away from their own noses ( ) and start focusing on making a decent team. They have been relying on Messi for 2 Copas Americas in a row and one Mundial.
Chile has (by far), the best football team in latin america atm.
Ugh, they still made it to the freaking Final. Think about the teams that didn't even enter semifinals. He's being over dramatic and needs to reconsider it. It comes off a little ungrateful tbh.
