Neither. It was an unfortunate accident. You could argue that the parents could have been watching better or Disney should have known the alligator was there and removed it, but at the end of the day it's just a sad accident imo

I don't think I know enough details but even so, blame is useless in this situation. It's just wasted energy when this entire thing was definitely an accident.

EDIT - While it is no one's 'fault', I still think Disney should take this accident into consideration and remove these hazards.

Disney. You're promised a safe, and happy environment when you stay there. I don't think there were any signs that said "Beware of alligators"?

The parents. Disney is rarely at fault for any accidents that happen on their property, it's almost always the guests who do not follow the rules.

There are multiple signs saying no swimming in lakes at all resorts. Once the parents saw their child near the water, they should have properly taken action.

This is how I feel- I think people would certainly have been more careful had there been signage warning of alligators. If we need to blame an entity, the blame rests with Disney specifically because they boast about how they have a wildlife team specifically to remove potentially dangerous creatures from the man-made body of water, yet they were unable to account for the alligators.

Almost every single pond/lake/body of water in FL has a sign that warns of alligators.

It's not a beach, it's a manmade lagoon, which touches many resorts. There are multiple signs warning guests not to go in the water. If they do, the guests are responsible for anything that happens to. It's really common sense If they want to swim, they can go to the pool.

PARENTS

I babysat a 2 year old and a 5 year old for 2 years. one thing you learn is you never leave a 2 year old by itself EVER. they always find a way to get hurt or get into something dangerous.

I was glued to that 2 year old cause they are problem magnets. These were irresponsible parents. Who lets their 2 year old toddler just sit in the open waters ALONE? Mom or dad should have been sitting with him/ Such a tragedy!

There are signs up all around the lagoon. It was a tragic accident but Disney made the warning clear not to go in the water.

The parents. I can't @ some of y'all. It's Florida, gator damn central. Disney can't control what swims up put of the water. How are the parents not at fault for not watching their child?
