A lot of the GP say that it's their opinion to be either racist, homophobic or anything that can offend people.
They say they it's their opinion and everyone is entitled to their opinion.
Do you agree with this?
I personally think everybody should make an effort to be accepting of everyone & you shouldn't have the right to hate someone which doesn't affect them & shouldn't hate for anything other than their personality.
I'd argue that we have rights and responsibilities. People seem to take ownership of their rights to harm other people and ignore that all of us as human beings have responsibilities that we have to uphold just as much as we have rights.
Yes... you can insult people for being gay, black, etc. You can also criticize public figures and religion without being arrested, or criticize homophobic/racist people. Free speech covers everything.
Everyone has a right to their opinion, but as a society we should be able to decide what's best for all of us, if we want to discrimante a group of people or embrace everybody
The first amendment of the United States Constitution states that "Congress shall make no law…abridging the freedom of speech.” Often, people reference this when discussing the concept of “free speech” or “freedom of religion.” But nothing is ever truly “free.” Free speech, as outlined in the Constitution, has its limits.
Speech that incites lawless action, “fighting words,” credible threats, obscenity, child ****ography, defamation, invasion of privacy, intentional infliction of emotional distress, commercial speech, government speech, public employee speech, student speech and speech related to national security are not protected under the US constitution.
This tea I notice people only scream "YOU'RE OPPRESSING MY FREE SPEECH!11!!!!!" or something along that lines when they are reprimanded for saying something homophobic or racist freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom of consequences
