I know this is a common gay stereotype, men liking feminine things. But I'm talking specifically about a boyfriend treating you the way a man would traditionally treat a woman in a stereotypical heterosexual relationship.

Like, if he insists to pay for the dinner. If he wants to pick you up. That general idea. Says things like "I'll protect you".

I'm talking to a guy right now whose kinda like that, and he means it in the absolute most sweetest way. He really is amazing. But it does make me feel kinda odd sometimes. I know it shouldn't bother me, and I should throw these stereotypes out the window, but I notice it and I'm not sure how I feel about it..

It's not the fact that it's a womanly trait, but yeah the fact that he thinks I can't take up for myself or pay for dinner.. Like we're equals and I'd like to be treated as equal. But I know it comes from a place of love, and he's not consciously thinking that I'm weaker and less important. It's just what our culture has taught us about what roles we should play in relationships and how we're supposed to act.
