The actual coddling, I guess. Like the way men traditionally treat women all comes from the sexist idea that they're weaker and need protecting.
It's not the fact that it's a womanly trait, but yeah the fact that he thinks I can't take up for myself or pay for dinner.. Like we're equals and I'd like to be treated as equal. But I know it comes from a place of love, and he's not consciously thinking that I'm weaker and less important. It's just what our culture has taught us about what roles we should play in relationships and how we're supposed to act.
