you're searching for mess but i'll bite. it's disgusting and a classic way for politicians to insight fear and vilify a minority just as a distraction. this law had other provisions (for example, that no city in NC can instate higher minimum wages than the state maximum) that they wanted people to brush over and it worked.

outside of that, not only is it a way to discriminate against trans people under the guise of "protecting children" (which is the classic anti-gay rhetoric of a couple decades ago, how gay men = pedophiles) but it also puts (often gay) people who don't appear gender conforming enough into the line of fire.

And also other states are considering similar laws so it's not like you'd be able to escape it.

i actually think trans people having the right to use bathrooms of the gender they identify as is more important than gay people being refused service, and i'm gay + not trans. the way i look at it is: if i'm refused service, i can just go to the place next door and get service there instead. if a trans person is told they can't use public bathrooms, the only choice they have is to go home.

Very true. I don't want to overshadow one problem over another but at least gay men have alternate options for now. We can only fix one problem at a time (we can fight both though like you said).

It's frightening tbh it gives me 1930's teas. Most Trans folk look like the gender they transiition to. They are using this to spread paranoia as a distraction to the corruption and declining economy in these states.

They are also using this to scare people into voting for the GOP in the upcoming election. The evangelical right wants the LGBT community to be killed they can't do it here but are doing it in Africa. This bill is away for them to target the community.

All the more reason to leave
