I understand both sides of the argument though. Its a slippery slope, anyway. Where do we draw the line?

I think it's random that it was passed, and I'm surprised more people are having a negative reaction to the law since I thought trans issues weren't really acknowledged compared to Gay rights.

I'm against it personally cause there's no reason why I shouldn't. It's really not complicated to understand that a person who transitions from one sex to the other is going to use the bathroom according to their new sex. Sex offenders or whatever that attempt taking advantage of this won't succeed because they'll stick out like a sore thumb compared to a trans person who's taken hormones and changed their appearance. I think it's more dangerous in our time for a trans female for example to be forced into using a men's room.

It's disgusting and is a perfect example of how the ignorance and stupidity of republicans proves a great risk for society.

Thank god our next president will be another democrat.

Transgender people have been going into the bathroom they identify with their entire lives, whether we've known it or not. It's massively more dangerous to let a transgender person use the bathroom that their sex correlates with (how would they even enforce this? Require to check people's genitals?) because of the abuse and bullying they would receive (fact!: murder of trans people reached its peak last year). If a trans girl had to use the men's restroom, it would be uncomfortable for both parties and very dangerous for the girl. Why not just let them use the bathroom in peace?

The argument that "a man can just put on a wig and walk into the ladies' room": No. Firstly, if a man wanted to rape or harass a woman in the bathroom he would just walk in and do it anyway (this actually happens quite often, bathrooms are one of the most common places where rapes occur iirc); if he's gonna rape someone why would he need to follow rules in order to do it? Why aren't we making laws that prevent this specific problem but rather targeting trans people for peeing?
