They released a statement to say that they couldn't legally intervene with her situation because it was between Kemosabe/Kesha not Sony/Kesha, surely that's essentially them saying "this wouldn't be a problem if we could do something about it"? Kesha's battle has always been with Kemosabe not Sony.

I feel like Kemosabe/RCA (Sony probably were involved too) just saw how the song was well received so they thought it was a perfect opportunity to make money, as well as showing the GP that they have allowed Kesha to 'record' with other producers. After this song, no doubt they won't allow her to release and be sketchy, it was probably a one off thing so they could use it as an excuse that shes 'free'.

Earlier this month Kesha said that Sony told her they would release her out of her contract if she admitted that she's lying about Luke & apologized to him.
