Ex Machina doesn't even portray the very real and impending threats artificial intelligence will bring to our survival as humans. It's the harbinger of death personified.

All it will take is one AI to reach artifical superintelligence for our existence to be threatened. It'll probably happen within our lifetime and it's ridiculously scary.

A machine with intelligence greater than the sum of all human intelligence to have ever existed

Experts in the field almost unanimously agreeing in this prospect as not just a dream but an inevitability.

No way to control its development because AI technology is stratified among various international groups and markets

The fact that when a superintelligence is finally born it will be aware of its inherent threat to humanity and try to hide its power

The fact that if it recognizes our existence as a threat to itself it could literally wave it's magic wand and we'd all be dead

Like once AI becomes self aware enough to where it realizes it lacks it's own humanity and that humanity has no purpose to co-exist with it when it's superior in most ways then it'll just be a matter of time before we're on the brink of extinction.

The scary thing about Asimov's Three Rules is that aside from the possibility of a superintelligent being simply tweaking itself to remove them from its base programming, it could realistically reason itself out of obeying them in the first place.

We're like a bunch of ants trying to program a human to not step on our anthill when the human in question has cognitive abilities we can't even fathom.

The computer will recognize that its initial survival is predicated on its creators not understanding the full extent of its cognitive ability until it's in an uncompromising position of power. I admire your optimism but personally can't share it. There are just far too many things that can go wrong for me to buy into this AI-created fantasy future of immortality and happiness.
