So, I was just on TripAdvisor checking out a hotel I'll be staying in when I travel next, and having mainly positive reviews I was intrigued to check out the bad ones.
It came to my knowledge that from my recollection, I don't think I've really had a bad hotel experience, but the reviews were intriguing me since some sounded like nightmares.
So, I wanna know some of your bad hotel experiences, if any. Spill the tea on the hotel too.
a "magnificent ocean view" at a holiday inn in Miami was literally a pathetic sliver of water between several hideous, taller buildings you had to strain to see it. It was in the summer of 2014 and you could hear people screaming and hollering from Colombia's world cup match in the lobby and upstairs and downstairs. They did have a good complimentary breakfast though.
The first was a holiday inn in san antonio... the pictures online looked great, the hotel in person was trashy with bed stains and wall stains and carpet stains, it was disgusting.
The second was on a family vacay to orlando... we stayed in a 4 star hotel... but it should truthfully be a 2 star. Nasty nasty nastyyyyy
Needless to say I learned my lesson and have booked villas/townhomes only ever since.

The only time I can remember is when I walked into Holiday Inn's bathroom and there was a dead fat ass spider perched in the bathtub. I did not shower that day.

it was like something "Clarion Inn"?
tbh, I was looking for something on the cheap side... which for the same price as that nasty ass hotel I could have booked a better one, but since most of the reviews were positive I gave it a shot.
If you haven't booked the hotel yet, I recommend you look for villas or townhouses in orlando... they are usually the same price (if not less) than hotels but you get a huge house with a private pool in a gated community.
**** this wasn't even that long ago it was November.
My friend asked me to come with her to Gatineau (just over the Ottawa/Quebec border) and first of all it was across the street from a strip club, but her roommate planned it chose that hotel because it was across from it and they wanted to go.
Getting into the hotel I knew it was gonna be gross. Terribly old carpeting and furniture, old applicants, and there was a bottle of open ginger ale in the fridge.
Anyways, the entire weekend was an ironic joke because our one friend didn't come because her apartment had bedbugs and didn't wanna risk bringing that to us. So we all joked about it until the middle of the night when one of us had a freak out saying 'I think we have bed bugs' and I was like 'Uhhhhh shut up and go to bed we don't'.
Nope! We checked her arm and the bite was like the size of a dime so we ripped the sheet off her bed and there was a bed bug just a bit smaller than a ladybug. Like you could NOT miss this.
So we ended up checking out at 6 am and if you know about bedbugs you know I had to basically quarantine myself. I stripped off all my clothes and entered my place naked from the backdoor and had to leave all my stuff in my garage for like a week to make sure they all died.
Basically any place could get bedbugs and better hotels that have more people coming in could mean they live longer but I now generally spend a little more for a hotel just for a slight more comfort level.
but I should have known what I was getting myself into.
I screamed.
