Nah, people are discussing an actual statistic, not a stereotype.
(It could've easily gone left but so far it hasn't, and everyone's being objective w/their opinions which is good)

The statistic isnt even valid because by their own admission the cdc is only able to diagnose less than half of all his cases....and there is no qualification in the op with a link or anything. I posted about a specific aspect of hiv stigma. To see his rates going down stigma has to first. Instead that isn't the case. the only difference now is that minorities are now being infected with hiv stigma. You aren't going to address hiv rates among young people going up if you don't first address the stigma.

HIV-1 = Chimpanzees. HIV-2 = Monkeys.
The theory / idea / often racist story that a black person had sex with a chimp/monkey is inaccurate, as it's scientifically proven that the virus stems from hunters, specifically those that ate animals, which were prominently black African men.
The 'family tree' has been storied back to 1920 in Congo, and is factually the most common place for diverse HIV strains. If you then take into account migrants and sex trade, you'll see why by 1960 that the 'B' subtype of HIV-1 had been noted to have reached Haiti. This is where the racial stigma and discrimination stems from, and why they're 'blamed' for the outbreak.
I'm not about to remind everyone of the history of black people as I'm sure we are well educated enough about slavery, but this is why, to my own knowledge, the reasons as to why the HIV virus is more common among black people, and Africans.

Also how the communities treat someone infected. From my experience the white community is way more welcoming and accepting of a peer who has HIV. However in the black community it's usually a way difference view "omg he is sickly" Then the guy in the black community is jaded and hides his status.

I don't quite understand the exact origins of HIV in Africa. However, what I do know is that it showed up in 1920. Wouldn't it have existed before then if it was actually from Africa? Secondly, if you can catch HIV by eating food that would mean you could also catch HIV orally? Right? No one has ever been able to prove that you can catch HIV from oral sex. So I'm not sure if that's an accurate path... but interesting stuff non the less.

No, not eating "food". Hunting animals with the HIV virus. Didn't think I would need to highlight that the virus can be contracted via cuts, not just by those that ate chimps and monkeys.
No wonder there's so much ignorance about HIV.
Y'all know damn well its taken decades for interracial relationships to become common place. Black people from Africa, had sex with black people due to racism. Black people then via sex trade, had sex with white people. It'll take about 50 more years for the virus to be more even among all races (or, just black and white people). Hopefully by then HIV will be curable. I was told 5 years ago that it'd be curable in 10. I'm still waiting.

it was blamed on the gays not on blacks

Wow I'm impressed this thread hasn't been messy,I'm on page 5. And many people have said what I would say about the stigma and lack of education and financial ability being the main causes.
