Agreed. Portman's a great actress and does what she can, but the writing is unsalvageable IMO. Even as a plot device.... She fails. Padme agrees to marry Anakin
after he admits to her that he committed gencoide and killed children, then she dies of a broken heart cause.... He committed genocide and killed children, again. Like, sorry, but what the f*** did she expect?
Plus, she ultimately really doesn't do anything but serve as a motive for Anakin to go evil and.... Wait. No. That's it. That's all. (Which can be fine for a minor character with a few scenes, but not a major character in the prequel trilogy)
