Those 5th week sales are strange. She topped ITunes throughout the whole week, why did the sales fall so low?

Hello's sales will rebound this week, and increase further from there between now and New Years.

"Candle In The Wind 1997/Something About The Way You Look Tonight" debuted certified 8X Platinum when it debuted on the Hot 100, so "Hello' is actually the second fastest single to reach Quadruple Platinum. CITW 97 sold 3.45 million, then 1.2-1.25 million week 2, then 750-800k week 3, and around 600k week 4, and around 500k week 5. Within a month CITW 97 was Diamond, certified for sales of 11 million. Remember many of CITW 97's sales were at non-Soundscan merchants, so the 8.81 million "official tally" leaves out two million singles sold.
I was pulling so hard for 25 to open with more than 3.45 million (it did SPS, but not in raw album sales), even buying 2 CD copies for my family (along with 2 21s & 1 19). However, the fact Adele came so close at 3.38 million but still couldn't get to 3.45 million means CITW 97 will almost certainly hold on to the combined singles and albums Soundscan sales week for the remainder of all music history. I cannot imagine another album being more eagerly anticipated than 25, at least not in my lifetime.

All of the above streamed in the US counted towards her certification. As of last week she was closing in on 2.5 million, so I'm hoping Hello regains its momentum quickly so it can reach 4 million (or more) before 2015 ends.

1. it counts spotify streams
2. it sold alot more but due to the CMA rules it "lost" of sales last week, if i'm correctly informed

Seriously
I do think they're going to have to change the streaming equivalent since so many songs are eligible for diamond certs now, it's getting a bit crazy.

RITD is at 8.4m and IGAF is at 8.7m as reported by Billboard this past October

Actually Hello still managed to get a positive 112,000 sales week, even with her album debuting with 3.38 million. So she still added to her sales despite losing many to CMA and Hello should have a better week this week (and the weeks following this coming week too).

You're right. A song shouldn't double its sales numbers in certifications. Sales should have to count for at least 50% of the data used for certifying singles. If more points are coming from streaming than sales, since certifications were based SOLELY on sales until the last three years, those extra streams shouldn't count toward the certification. Remember why the RIAA originally started certifying songs -- FOR SALES!

Hello is not slowing down. The 112,000 number is a result of complete my album from iTunes.
