You're right. A song shouldn't double its sales numbers in certifications. Sales should have to count for at least 50% of the data used for certifying singles. If more points are coming from streaming than sales, since certifications were based SOLELY on sales until the last three years, those extra streams shouldn't count toward the certification. Remember why the RIAA originally started certifying songs -- FOR SALES!

I would then have to say Poland's version of the RIAA and its certification process clearly lack credibility. Certifying a song Gold or Platinum with nearly zero sales cheapens the value of such a single certification to nearly zero. I'm not picking on just Poland though, as I'm sure other countries are adopting similar practices.
