USA, Canada, and I assume Australia and New Zealand too? are obsessed with fast food and processed food... while in Europe those are very rare... I wonder why?

In every town in North America, there is a fast food chain, for halloween, what horrifies me is that people don't give kids treats they make, they give them mini chocolate bars and other processed candies... In Europe it would be looked upon as nasty to treat someone with twix or kitkat ...

Does anyone know where this obsession with fast food come from?

Because we r lazy and fat and every stereotype about Americans is completely true

I have been to the UK and they did not have as many at all... they had lots of little kebab places and stuff like that but not as many chains... in Canada it's chain after chain on the streets with the odd 5% independent...

they have a **** ton of mcdonalds, KFCs, etc.

Fast food chains are literally everywhere tho, not just the U.S., Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Places like India and Japan have tons of fast food chains.

In the UK, smoking, being overweight and having high blood pressure are the three biggest killers, hun. The UK may not be as bad as the USA but it's worse if not, just as bad as the other countries you mentioned.

Italy there is one per town if the town is like 100k people or more... and nobody goes there...

I can tell you in Canada little towns of like 5000 people, the only restaurant is a fast food chain...

They're WAY less common here in France than in the US. In the US a town of 8k will have 30 fast food chains to choose from.

Ew, we don't like to be referred to as "former colonies". Why not say "the English speaking countries." It is also inaccurate, as it doesn't apply to many of the former British colonies (i.e. India and other Asian territories, several African countries, etc.).

Because we literally can't live without fast food. They're actually coming out with Fast Food Complexes where you can *technically* live inside of a fast food restaurant. Right now, just McDonalds is going it (because it's basically what all of us fat Americans eat 24/7!), but other places like Taco Bell, KFC, and Burger King are supposedly picking the idea up soon, too!

If you're quoting this, then you'll see that this is sarcasm. This thread was an obvious attempt at shading Americans. <3
