I've been out of the loop for more than two years when it comes to video games due to, well, life. I haven't bought or played anything since mid-2013 apart from jumping into Skyrim and GTA V every so often, however I really want to start getting back into it now that I have a little more free time.
First question: Which console is better? Xbox One or PS4? What are the cons and pros of each one? Graphics don't really bother me all that much unless there's a drastic difference between them. One of the main things I'm looking for is the exclusives, and which console has more to offer quality and quantity-wise.
Second question: What games should I check out? Obviously once I've purchased a console I'll need some awesome games to play. I love RPG's, open world, and story-driven action games, stuff like Uncharted, The Elder Scrolls, GTA, Fallout, The Last Of Us, Darksiders, Red Dead, ect. although I'm open to pretty much anything if it's really good.
I'm going to be biased here and tell you to get a PS4. But really the difference in specs between the two are minor, but PS4 has the slight edge overall.
As for games to check out here's a list of games I have/plan on buying soon
Halo 5
Fallout 4
Star Wars Battlefront
Rise of the Tomb Raider
Forza Motorsport 6
Gears of War Ultimate Edition
Gears of War 4 (coming next year)
Just Cause 3
Assassin's Creed Syndicate
Call of Duty: Black Ops III
Tom Clancy's The Division
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Seige
Far Cry 4
Batman: Arkham Knight
Sunset Overdrive
One last thing, Xbox has a ton of options for different bundles -> HERE
And if you can't come to an ultimate decision you could always get both consoles and play the exclusives from the respective console
PS4>Xbox.
I have been playing Destiny every time now since I have started to get into it. It's really one of the biggest gaming franchises of all time even though it started a year and a half ago. It's basically multiplayer story game. You play a lot of missions with people (matchmaking, or your friends if you want) or even play multiplayer player vs player. It's the only game I'm playing right now and some ATRLers play it too. Get into it.
Nah, it has great exclusives but they already axed an online feature for the system they are moving on to the NX.
Wait for a price drop OP then get the Wii U it's a great system that died prematurely.
Admittedly, I don't use my consoles a whole lot, but PS4 seems to be getting the bigger share of better/more varied exclusives. You mentioned RPGs — as a big RPG fan myself, I can tell you without a doubt that Playstation is your console if you at all enjoy RPGs.
If you're a big fan of shooters and racing games, there's probably an argument to be made for the XBOne, but aside from that I can't find many reasons to go for Microsoft.
Wii U is probably getting replaced by the NX at some point in the near future so I'm not sure it's worth shelling out any coins for that. I have it though, mostly because I grew up on Nintendo games and they're always worth it for me.
