And I never bothered with the Dark Aeons. They required almost broken set-ups and nearly endless amount of leveling up. Who have the time? I don't think even teenagers have the ****ing time

Yeah I've never really done any of the optional content except for getting Yuna and Rikku's celestial weapons, since they added more to the story in a way

No where NEAR as difficult to battle gameplaywise as the Dark Aeons, but can we talk about how ****ing annoying Seymour was? Like, ugh, how many times did we have to kill him? 4? 5? Kudos to the team on creating a pretty unlikable villain, between him trying to come between the obvious Tidus-Yuna OTP, and the genocide on the mountain, I really hated his guts. I remembered him because this thread prompted me to go through the soundtrack on youtube, and he definitely had one of my favorite battle themes in the series:

I just beat the remastered version, but want to possibly keep going for all the side quests.

What did you think of the re-mastered version? Noticeably different? I'm playing it on my original ps2. The controller is literally held together by cellotape.

It's worth doing the side stuff like fighting the dark Aeons and eventually Penance. Also the Omega Ruins.

The dark aeons are cute. I started the Valefor one only. The others are so strong.

I would need to train infinitely in Omega Ruins.

The ending few battles and scenes are still so sad. Poor Yuna.

It's not that different. I hadn't played my PS2 version in a while, but I was not remembering much of a difference.

How the **** do you get this damn platinum without spending 600+ hours grinding to get all the different spheres to fill your sphere grid? I want to replay this but my OCD is going crazy since I'm so close to platinuming it.

This I still gave up and used FFXED even with emulator (where things can be so much easier with save stats)

The amount of time I spent Platinuming the HD Remaster this spring. Still an amazing and wonderful game outside of the mini games and endless grinding in extra content. The story, cut scenes and music are everything.

I think my final time for the Platinum was about 100-120 hours, with probably 70-80 hours being extra content. Grinding spheres and filling up the arena get monotonous, but there are walkthroughs on popular guide websites that help you streamline the process. Your first step is to fill up the Monster Arena so you can farm spheres effectively. The Don Tonberry trick is what will get you fast raw exp. points, and you can fight other bosses for lots of spheres.

It's most efficient to delete most of the Luck spheres, since Luck and Fortune spheres are hell to farm. Be sure to max everyone in everything else , though. Start with leveling Tidus, Rikku and Wakka equally since they're the best characters in endgame. I then focused on the others individually and maxed them one-by-one.

Less Luck will make the dark aeons and Penance more difficult to defeat, but that should only be a problem with the later ones. For the later ones, you can use Yojimbo's Zanmato , though Dark Yojimbo will be annoying since you have to defeat him three times.

I think games should always be fun, but the endgame grinding became a chore for me and lessened some of the fulfillment and fun I got out of the ending the first time I watched it. Filling the arena took me probably 10-15 hours (10 of each creatures (damn Tonberries)), and maxing took me 30 or so hours. Unless you really want the Platinum and will put in the hours for it, I'd recommend doing only as much as you enjoy.

Yeah, but you only get 99x warp spheres which aren't really that worth it..
