Kesha filed a lawsuit against Lukasz “Dr. Luke” Gottwald, her longtime producer, for allegedly verbally and physically assaulting her for years. Dr. Luke filed a countersuit, claiming Kesha was merely trying to extort him so she could get out of her contract, and Kesha responded earlier this summer by expanding her lawsuit to include all of Sony Music, which she argues chose to ignore that Dr. Luke was drugging and raping her—thereby putting her and other female artists in danger. Unsurprisingly, the story is now getting even uglier.


As reported by Yahoo, Kesha has filed an injunction in hopes of forcing a judge to make a decision, with her lawyer explaining that—because she’s still stuck in her contract with Sony and Dr. Luke and clearly doesn’t want to work with them—her “brand value has fallen.” He adds that if the court doesn’t do something soon, “Kesha will suffer irreparable harm, plummeting her career past the point of no return.” Former CEO of Universal Music Jim Urie put it much more directly, saying, “If Kesha cannot immediately resume recording…her career is effectively over.” So far, there’s no word on if Kesha’s injunction has done anything.

she literally was on track to be a major pop girl..after the whole Die Young getting pulled off the radios her entire career has spiraled downwards..it's really a shame, after all she's gone through

Yeah, luckily she has had enough success to provide financially for herself and her family for the rest of her life but you can tell all she wants to do is perform and write and release new songs, so it is really sad.

The fact that is still going on is ridiculous. If this were an average person who was being unable to work for a living because of a lawsuit of this magnitude moving slow as molasses it would be an outrage. Her life and career have been torn apart for speaking out and no one finds it to be an issue, in fact there are some accusing her of lying. Do you even realize how rare it is for women to lie about rape? Do you even realize that the amount of people accusing someone of lying about rape is apart of the reason why so many rapes go unreported and so many people are afraid to speak out against their attackers?

The saddest part of it is that anyone struggling on whether or not to come forward could be discouraged from doing so by seeing the way Kesha has been treated or by seeing online comments accusing her of lying.
