Probably Madonna and Mariah. I would had stan and LIVED for whitney tho >>>
Most of the GP proabably would have. I mean she doesn't have the best selling album and single by a female artist for no reason.
She didn't have a lot of controversy at that time, she is majorly R&B, and she didn't sell sex so she probably wouldn't have many on here, just like she doesn't now.

I disagree Whitney would have PLENTY of fans here.
During the 80's male acts DONINATED, if ATRL had existed then Whitney and Madonna would be the only options as they were the female artists who were consistently slaying the most. A DURING 86-88 Whitney would have probably had the most stans on ATRL and during 1992/1993 she would have had one of the most as well. But I get what you mean.
during the BG era Whitney would have had the most stans. no doubt about that.. that era slayed harder than britney's, taylor's and Gaga's careers put together and multiplied by 10.
whitney did not only dominate her peers with that album/era, she demolished and destroyed any competition.

Undeniably the biggest female era of all time. I'm just saying she was mostly an R&B singer and you know how Atrl feels about their "pop girls." She would have kinda been how MJ is now. She isn't talked about everyday but everyone still knows what's up.
And like I said she didn't court controversy nor did she sell sex, things that people around here love.
Mariah was deservedly the queen of the 90's so easily her
Boatloads of #1 singles, high album sales, great live performances, all things stans love
I feel like she'd be how Taylor is though, because Mariah wasn't as global as say, Celine Dion, so Celine stans would try to use the "global" excuse to discredit her
Yeah but Cyndi was kinda done by '86. If you think about it. Older legends Like Diana Ross, Barbra Streisand (who were massive during the 60's/70's)etc. had lost steam during the early 80's. Madonna and Cyndi picked up during 83/84, and Whitney followed soon after in '85. Cyndi was done after 'True Colors' unfortunately while Madonna and Whitney only hit higher highs by the end of the decade. LAV sold 21M WW, and True Blue sold 23M WW, Whitney debut sold 28M WW and Her follow up sold 24M WW. Not to mention Whitney and Madonna shot through the stratosphere during the early 90's and by that time Cyndi was irrelevant and Mariah and Janet had really come through.
