She said she, "like a lot people have changed their way of thinking..." then proceeds to explain why (because its the law and the word is important to people). She's still a traditionalist, her views haven't changed, just her thought process when it comes to gay marriage.
A lot of y'all in here trying to make excuses for her, yet if a gay person would have said these exact words y'all would call them every type of self hater. If a straight person said it, they would be branded a homophobe.
A transgender person using terms like "traditional" to describe someone/thing is irony on top of irony. Especially considering who her biggest supporters are.
I watched the interview a couple of times now and while I think she's definitely not on board, she will be in the coming years. Her life has done a complete 180 in the last 6 months and I assure you she's working through a lot of things and growing as a person more now than she's ever done in her entire life. It'll take time.
You can tell she has not truly changed her mind. Her wording was extremely awkward.
-She says "if marriage is truly that important to you" implying: cant you just live without it?
-She says "it's the law of the land so yeh I'm okay with it" implying: only because the legislation has changed am I now accepting of gay marriage, because I have to be.
I feel sorry for her because yes, she was raised in a different era. Ya'll have to remember that! It's very difficult for someone raised in the 50s to change the way their minds were literally MOULDED. That's why it took her so long to even accept herself as a transgender person, she is 65!!

This is true.
ATRL is primed & ready to scream at those who mistakenly address her with incorrect pronouns while she herself says "they" & "them" instead of "we" & "us" when talking about the LGBT+ community. Even just the T community.

I'm going easy on Caitlyn because this all very new to her. She's never been on a platform to discuss these issues as someone who is part of the community. I have seen a bit of her show and have seen a lot of her trans check her, which I like. Just because Caitlyn is trans doesn't mean she comes equipped with the ability the speak effectively to the community as a whole. I sure hope she learns quickly before she talks herself into an even bigger mess.
