Don't bring in how other countries don't work the same way America does because most other countries were not built on Immigration the same way America was. Other countries have credible ethnic identities or background that play a part in the determination of citizenship and what not.
America however was basically built on immigration, so to go ahead and decide that being born in America doesn't make you in American when the whole idea of American nationalism was built on the idea that 'you were born here, so you're American' in order to bring down whatever other backgrounds the immigrants came from.

America as a nation has choosen who they see as American and who they see as not American enough. So a person of Hispanic decent who has been here for generations would not be considerd American no matter what. Same goes for Asians and Blacks who too could have ancestors in the country for 200 years and never be considered American enough.
But you can be a white Canadian or white European immigrant and be called American when you have your citizenship or even be here for a generation.

I agree that socially it never worked that way since a White European can be mistaken for or called an American very easily when a person of color who's been there for generations wouldn't.

No they should NOT be citizens, nothing racist about it. And this whole "the US is built on immigration", lol So is every other country in the world idiots! The people in Australia, UK etc. are not native to those countries.
Those people are having kids because, well they are people like everyone else and want to form families, they just don't use them as tools to stay here. I am pretty sure they can't just claim citizenship just because they have a child that was born here, it doesn't work that way
