Hispanic meaning hailing from Spain. So a Spanish speaking population.

Latino meaning a descendent of the Latin language, so basically any Romance Language (Portuguese, Italian, Spanish).

It confuses some people because they don't consider that race it literally an entire different realm. You can be black, white, and anything in between while still being Hispanic and/or Latino. Some people also use them interchangeably, which is incorrect.

I thought there was more of a difference than Spain and brazil

There is, the countries in the middle are both, only Brazil isn't "hispanic" and Spain isn't "latino", but the rest of the countries are both.

It confuses me because literarly almost half of my family is tan, and then the rest is white. Like my oldest sister, my little brother & my dad have white skin, then me, my other sister and my mom are tanned.

I knew the difference but I use Latino because it sounds fancy

Hispanic, descendant of a Spanish speaking country. Brazilians speak Portuguese so they are not Hispanic.

Latino, think Latin America, ALL of Latin America where Spanish and Portuguese are spoken.
