White people born in Africa are not ethnically African. There are thousands of ethnic groups in Africa, and there are ethnic groups that are not black, but not a single one of them are white. They descend from European colonisers and are therefore ethnically European. African is not a nationality. It’s a term that refers specifically to indigenous Africans. Nationality and ethnicity are two different things. A white person can have an African nationality, so they can be South African or Kenyan or Zimbabwean or whatever, but that does not make them ethnically African.
