I heard that it was getting mixed reviews, which is kinda surprising but also not, since HBO decided to air it early, they must have little faith in it I guess.
I feel like all this backlash is a result of Nic Pizzolatto not knowing how to write for a female character but we'll know in a couple weeks for sure what's the reason.
After a perfectly executed first season, I couldn't wait for the day season 2 premiered. It's so sad this is getting very mixed reviews. They basically shattered all my excitement.
I didn't like this one bit, sadly. I feel like the Season 1's first episode did such a better job of establishing mood/tone. this installment just kind of felt like a mess to me.
The best thing about the episode was the opening. I suppose the acting was solid, but the story was very underwhelming. Not nearly as interesting as Season 1's first episode.

And Season 1 was amazing, btw. From the looks of it, Season 2 won't even touch it.
I was into it by the end, but wow was it slow to get there.
Do you guys think Taylor Kitsch's character is gay?
that was my first thought after he took what appeared to be Viagra before having sex with his girlfriend -- but, obviously, he could have impotence for another reason.
After the lukewarm reviews, I wasn't expecting much, but I was entertained throughout the entire thing. Farrell's and McAdams' characters are the most interesting ones so far.
I gotta admit though, the best thing about the premiere was probably the opening credits. Sick as ****.
