In all honesty, it's a pretty crappy move on Apple's part to essentially force labels to give away their music for free solely for the sake of benefiting Apple in the moment.
I can't imagine any label releasing a major album during this 3 month period. That would basically be sabotage for the artist and label.
Actually labels are paid by Spotify. They just claim it's not enough.
The free trial benefits Apple, not the music. Apple is basically getting advertisement for free and for 3 long months.
Labels complained that Spotify didn't pay them enough but they have no problem getting zero dollars from Apple.
Well, Apple Music will undoubtedly become the standard. Over 800 million people have iTunes accounts. Spotify's 60 million (with 15 million paying) isn't **** in comparison so of course companies will be willing to let Apple use their material for free when they will surely see more in the next 3 months. It's already proven Apple's iPhone users are more likely to spend money on music, apps, and in-app purchases than people using other platforms (namely Android). Apple will have no problem monetizing these users. Apple Music will become the Netflix of music streaming.

IDK Y U all think they will make more money this way, when those 800 million people already have access to itunes.

Firstly your numbers are 500M, 70M and 25M
Secondly, just because Apple is the biggest corporation shouldn't exempt them from paying. Your logic doesn't make sense at all.
Those people already have access to itunes. Apple users aren't forced to pay $10 bucks a month for this. They may gain more users from other services, and gain some fresh users, but they will see a drop in revenue from downloads in favor of pennies per stream.

Spotify is obviously using that $0.99 3 month trial to bolster their numbers. Don't let them fool you. In the end, Apple wins because they create an environment where more money can be made. The fact that they have the largest digital media library available for streaming as well is just another plus for them, that and the fact that their service will also be available on Android and Windows. Your logic doesn't make sense. The labels are willing to take a quick hit for more guaranteed money from the guaranteed surefire success of Apple Music.

oop
Anyway. All i know is I'm getting free music for 3 months so idc whether these millionaires get royalties for 3 months or not
If Apple Music succeeds with even a portion of the huge iTunes user base, it will make labels far more money than Tidal ever could, even with three free months. You guys are comparing apples and oranges here.
But they did an interview on Rolling Stone and said this so its not an expose.
And why would i even care about the money the artist i listen gets, specially when they are millionaires already and get more money that i will ever get, its not my issue and not yours either. Unless the artist is indie and broke, but thats not what the artists you stan for are.
