What do you mean by "perfectly able"?
When I turned 18, I was nowhere near ready to move out on my own, financially or mentally.

My mom doesnt want me to leave the house so im ok, i have 23

I honestly feel like 18 is still too young to move out on your own (besides college).
Like only because you're legal doesn't mean you're mature enough to make rational decisions.
18 years olds are still practically children mentally imo.

Unless you have **** parents, its expected in this day and age.

Well, I live at home still but I have a job lol! I'm not really financially able to move out yet smh

easier said that done. This was my plan and I swore I had it all thought out. I think it's fine only if you're working or going to school. If you're just sitting at your parents' house all day everyday doing nothing with your life then... you're sort of a dead beat if i'm entirely stable financially by then, I plan to be out before I hit 21 but I think me leaving will be harder for them than it is for me. They're too overprotective.

if they're like 28 then I can understand but if you're talking about someone fresh out of hs/college aged then it's unreasonable to expect them to be able to go to school while probably working a minimum wage job and be able to afford rent or w/e ya feel

If you're a community college student, it's expected.

When I was a kid/teenager I used to assume i'd be able to move out around 18 or shortly after. But when you finally get to that point its a lot more difficult than it seems. You have to have steady income, you have to have the right mentality as well. Theres a lot of factors that one doesn't consider when they're young and tbh im pretty poor so its that much more of a struggle for me to move out on my own. Im 23 and im getting a second job just to make ends meet as it is.

That being said, if someone has parents willing to pay for them then sure or if you have a job with good enough income to pay to live on your own than why not? But It also makes sense nowadays to stay with your parents for awhile even if you have a good job and save up your money. It really just depends.

I'm 23 and I can barely afford food for myself with the job I have now, let alone save up money to move out.

Trying to find better jobs isn't easy either. I wish I could live alone.
