Miley Cyrus - I Miss You
Avril Lavigne - Slipped Away
Hilary Duff - Fly
Okay, let me explain why. Miley's "I Miss You" always reminds me of loved ones lost. I usually can handle it until she hits the bridge. "I know you're in a better place/But I wish that I could you see your face/I know you're where you need to be/Even if it's not here with me"
Avril's is just a sad song in general. It talks about her grandfather dying, and she wasn't there to say goodbye. Which I can relate to, since my grandmother died in a hospital while we were asleep. My uncle also died in a bar parking lot about 15 miles out of town.
Hilary's isn't sad and is supposed to be an uplifting song, but it just gets to me because I bought her album, which included "Fly," exactly one week before my grandmother passed away. She was like my second mother. We bought it on our way to see her in the hospital, and I played it a lot while we were there, and of course, always skipping back to "Fly". After she passed, I again, listened to "Fly" a lot. So it brings back both good and bad memories.
