It's not that people don't know Madonna is in her 50s (which isn't really "old" but whatever, I guess it is if your life expectancy is short but considering her impeccable health and the care she gives to her body, it's only about half of her life). It's that the ad implies that old people are inherently gross. It ties into how society views older people at large, and how they are discriminated against when it comes to employment, are often forgotten by lawmakers and things like the mainstream gay rights movement (which cares a lot about marriage but not about what will happen to those married couples once they retire and need to find LGBT-friendly homes and such), there is a generalized culture of disrespect and neglect towards older people.
Please stop acting as if calling someone old and making age-related jokes (especially when they're white and well off) is the same as making racist remarks. Your fave is receiving criticism for her behavior each and every day and most of it has nothing to do with the fact she's old yet there you all are trying to defend her. Take her age out of the equation and what she did to poor Drake is still vile. She deserves to be slammed.
