Rihanna is the Most Versatile Pop Girl of This Generation

Even in relatively quiet years, Rihanna casts a wide shadow over the world of pop music. The depth of her catalogue of hits is almost unrivaled, with 26 landing in the top 10 in the last decade alone, and she’s sharpened the tools she uses to create them to the finest possible points: a voice that’s flexible enough to fit into any genre, a preternatural sense for sounds and trends ready for a bigger stage, and a devil-may-care je ne sais quoi that resonates with young people in a way many of her contemporaries can’t manage.

We know that Rihanna, who outside of the much-anticipated R8 has become the face of Dior and stars in DreamWorks' number one movie Home, is wealthy now, and she’ll eventually be worth billions. But as a black woman whose artistic inventiveness outpaces her peers and music executives by what feels like whole years, she will also perpetually be owed. To be a black woman and genius, is to be perpetually owed.
From folk to trap to children's movies it seems her domination on multiple fronts would suggest that she is indeed the most versatile pop girl. If not, who is more versatile than her?
She is the most versatile pop girl EVER. and she truly is the voice of the young people like the article says. The defining popstar of this generation.
After hearing some of the urban stuff she's been attempting I think her versatility lies not on her voice but on the fact that she has many singles that are different genres in terms of the nonvocal tracks.

So if her voice wasn't versatile and she sounded the same on every track what exactly would make her songs so different? You're contradicting yourself, but cute attempt.
She is versatile, but not in an organic way. Her versatility is forced/controlled as she sings the way she's told to sing and records the songs she's told to record.
Well, she's the most multi-genre of the popgirls and alot of it has to do with her background and the fact that reggae/dancehall puts her ahead of the other pop/R&B girls who can only do either pop or urban. For example, any other girl singing Man Down would have been an inauthentic mess.
Thread title says this generation.. And Christina is part of this generation. Now sit
Really because I could have sworn this was 2015 and not 2000. And that's no shade because I like Christina but what has she done that was versatile since Stripped?
I would Beyonce and Gaga. Bey has done r&b, reggae, urban, rap singing and pop just to name a few. And Gaga really impressed me with her jazz performance at the Grammys. So the answer is no.
