Not super religious but religious enough to where it's annoying. My mom and grandma were talking about this local teen boy who almost shot himself last week but called the cops before doing it and they were like "It was God. He told him it wasn't his time." etc etc so I said "Actually it's really common for people to have second thoughts when attempting suicide..." and they were just like "Oh...". I felt a little bad for belittling them but I can't help myself

Yeah my parents are religious and believe in the bible but they have never taken me to a church in my whole life. My dad would rather spend his Sundays drinking and doing bbq's than going to church.

Right? EVERYTHING was "It was God's plan". Didn't get into the college you wanted? God has different plans for you. Won the lottery? God wanted you to have the money. Met your spouse at a bar? God put you two there.

So annoying and illogical how people assign any event as part of "God's plan" when it's either coincidence or something you did to cause it. I think people just don't like taking responsibility when it's something bad and like the comforting thought of it being a higher power if it's something good.
