I started thinking on this topic.
Europe has population of only 750,000,000.
Asia's population is over 4,150,000,000.
Therefor Asia is 5,5 times bigger than Europe.
Yet I realized I don't know almost any Asians who have ever lived.
I know who is the prime minister of Lithuania, but I have no idea who is the president of China - the biggest country in the world.
I know who was Italy's prime minister during II WW, but I have no clue who was Japan's leader.
I don't know who is president of India or emperor of Japan.
I coudn't name a single Asian scientist... who have EVER lived.
I can't name a single Asian artist... painter? no. architect? nope. sculptor? no idea. classic musician? not a clue
I don't know any contemporary Asian singers, actors or book writers.
I was searching in my memory for over a half hour and the only Asians I have ever known are:
(dont read yet)
Genghis Khan - 12th century mongolian leader
Mustafa Kemal Atatürk - 20th century founder of Turkey Republic
Kim Jong-un - current North Korean dictator
Kim Jong-il - former North Korean dictator
Saddam Hussein - former Iraqi dictator
Osama bin Laden - former al-Qaeda leader
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad - former President of Iran
Mehmet Ali Ağca - Turkish shooter of Pope John Paul II
Masashi Kishimoto - author of Naruto manga
9 people.
Probably missed some.
The question for you is: could you name more? Or is it just mine ignorance? Or is it ignorance in first place? I don't know if it's a common knowledge. Post your results.
